We are in Oporto and the Douro River has finally arrived to its destination. It can finally rest in the Ocean after having flowed under the six bridges that connect it with the city of Gaia. It surrounds the city that gave name to Portugal and to the most famous wine in the world, whose fortune it has been following for a long time. From its waters left the vessels with Prince Henry, the ?Navigator?, for the conquest of Ceuta. Also in the waters of the Douro River and in the mind of the people of both cities there is the eternal memory of the Peninsular Wars.

Here in Oporto, waiting for you, so many interesting reasons with several monuments where the fa?ades and the interiors point out the historical contrast between the historical and the contemporary, such as the ex-libris Cl?rigos Tower or the Prince Henry?s House contrasting with the Serralves Museum or also the magnificent Stock Exchange Palace and the S. Francisco Church with the monumental Concert Hall Casa da M?sica.
On the right riverbank, up the hill, the old ancient houses are still inhabited by local population that are mingled with bigger manor houses.

Cuisine is strong and generous, with the tripes in a prominent place together with salt cod, veal and seafood courses. To taste it look for sophisticated restaurants, international hotels or the several bistros where you are served by welcoming and honest people. That same people that on the eve of St. John celebrate the patron saint and is dazzled by the fire cascade launched from the mythical D. Lu?s Bridge or watches the famous Rabelo boats regatta, thus proclaiming in the city the most pure of democracies ? the joy of living.

City of poets, sailors, heroes and winners and therefore always invincible fairly named the ?Invicta? city.
